Doris Gilbertson

Vice Chair

Doris is a retired Registered Nurse, Licensed Home Administrator, and former CEO of GCMC. Born and raised in Anaconda, Montana, she laid the groundwork for her healthcare career after graduating from Anaconda Senior High. She completed her education at St. Patrick’s School of Nursing in 1967.

The inclination to care for the ill and elderly had been ingrained in her from an early age. Her journey spanned over forty-eight years in the healthcare field. Starting as a staff nurse, she progressed into supervisory and management roles. Her drive for continuous learning, hands-on experiences, and the aspiration to contribute positively to healthcare guided her throughout her path.

Over the years, she seized opportunities to work across a range of facilities, including suburban and rural community hospitals, VA hospitals, clinics, county and private nursing homes. She even served in the United States Army Reserves in Montana and South Dakota. These diverse experiences enriched her knowledge and perspectives.

Her desire to be closer to family led her to Philipsburg, where she joined GCMC’s team. Initially serving as the Director of Nursing, she eventually took on the role of CEO. Later, she accepted the challenge to become the Administrator/CEO of a large privately-owned nursing home and assisted living facility. This role consumed sixteen years of her career until her retirement.

Given her extensive medical career and unwavering commitment to accessible and high-quality healthcare, she firmly believes that her background will greatly benefit both GCMC and the community it serves.
